Properties
| By using GOHSEFIMER L SERIES as an Auxiliary: |
| • |
The workability of vinyl chloride resin (PVC) is improved. |
| • |
A larger porosity is attained. |
| • |
Uniformity in porosity improves. |
| • |
Plasticizer absorbing speed increases. |
| • |
Gelation speed increases. |
| • |
Fish-eye occurrence significantly decreases. |
The amount of residual vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) in the PVC will be greatly decreased.
As a result, the product can be safely used as a food packaging forming material. |
The product helps decrease the energy consumption of PVC manufacturing and forming processes. |
| • |
The drying time of the manufacturing process is shorter, and the energy consumption in the VCM-removal column is decreased. |
| • |
Furthermore, in the forming process, PVC is readily disintegrated into primary particles to lead to improved forming efficiency. |

Physiological Properties
| • |
The physiological properties data for GOHSEFIMER L PVOH is currently unavailable. However, because GOHSEFIMER L SERIES products are low saponification PVOH, their physiological properties may be considered to be identical to those of polyvinyl alcohol.
In a general sense, polyvinyl alcohol is physiologically harmless and has been approved as a cosmetic raw material (cosmetic standard) or drug additive (registered in Japanese Pharmaceutical Codex). It has also been approved as a coating resin for food wrapping by the FDA of America (No. 175300).
In particular, the solubility of GOHSEFIMER L PVOH in water is significantly low compared to generic PVOH, and is therefore considered to be not readily absorbed in the human or animal mechanism. |
| • |
Existing chemical substance registration number
6-687
Registered as a vinyl alcohol-vinyl acetate copolymer. |
| • |
Already registered in our voluntary control standard on vinyl chloride food wrapper.
In Japan, registered in the PL standard "3-A-II-9" of Japan Hygienic PVC Association (JHP).

Polymer additives for vinyl chloride |
| 9: |
Polyvinyl alcohols that contain 50 wt% or more vinyl acetate in terms of polymer unit |
|
| From these facts, GOHSEFIMER L PVOH is considered to be physiologically inactive.
|
|
Safety
• Explosivity: Assumed to be the same as generic GOHSENOL
(dust explosion approx. 520 degree C) |
| • Combustibility:Applies to special combustibility category (synthetic resins) according to the enforcement ordinance of the Fire Act. |
|
Other Precautions
GOHSEFIMER L PVOH is a stable polymer compound, and does not usually putrefy, decompose or depolymerize.
However, owing to a lower glass transition point, conglutination can occur among its particles when stored under a high temperature/humidity, and under a heavy load. If storing in rainy or hot seasons, be very careful to avoid the above conditions. |
