Surface-Sizing Mold-Releasing PVOH

P-7000 SERIES

The P-7000 SERIES are mold-releasing PVOH whose qualities have been optimized as special surface sizing agents for paper and board. The products not only have excellent membrane properties unique to PVOH but also prevent paper from sticking to machinery, eliminating the need for a release agent.

Properties
  • ・Excellent solubility (no lumps of undissolved powder, or generation of fine powder dust).
  • ・Minimum foaming, and good workability.
  • ・No need for wax, emulsion etc as a remover, reducing costs.
  • ・No need for wax leads to avoid paper slippage. The paper produced will have good bonding properties.

Dissolving and Storage of P-7000
Any product from the P-7000 SERIES can be readily dissolved in cold water or warm water (50 degree C or lower). To dissolve P-7000, add to the necessary amount of water, and stir until fully dispersed. Heat the solution to 80 to 90 degree C and keep at this temperature, while stirring, for 0.5 to 1 hour.
A typical, concentration is 5 - 10%, depending on the intended applications. Even when stored for an extended period, aqueous solution will never deteriorate or putrefy.
Applications of P-7000
P-7000 SERIES : products can be used as a surface sizing agent for any type of paper. However, their effects are maximized with the paper types described below.
  • ・Printing stocks (generic printing stock, base paper for coated paper)
    Improvement in paper strength and printability for generic wood free paper, printing stock B per JIS P 3102, and gravure paper.
    Improvement in paper strength and coatability for base paper (for coated paper).
  • ・Various boards (high-quality patent-coated board, white board, linerboard)
    Improvement in abrasion resistance, oil resistance, smoothness, and surface gloss.
  • ・Wrapping paper (craft paper, etc.)
    Improvement in paper strength, in particular, folding resistance; oil resistance, and improvement in printability.

In any of the above-mentioned examples of operation on the site, production tests were performed for several hours or continuously. As a result, no fouling was found on the calender rolls or after dryer.
